Reflection on Final

My final project was certainly a learning experience. When I got the go ahead from Squaw Mountain I was stoked! It seemed like my project would be well organized, and I'd a have a cool design for a place I go to and care about a lot. This went great until communication dropped out. Despite the disappoint from not really for getting my design in there business (they said they'd give it to their "real" graphic designer...sigh) it was really good to learn about this type of a situation. I plan on pursuing graphic design as a career, and in the real world, it won't always work out. Although I didn't finish the project with my original intentions, I felt as though I wanted a project with something I could really say I made that would be used for an actual business. I quickly figured things out with my dad and had a conversation with him on what he would want for a business card. I made one for him, and went through drafts, and finally got a finished product that he's using. Even if Squaw Mountain itself isn't using my design, I'm going to make tshirts with it on it with my own shirts. For this project, I documented my process really well, and going back to look at what I did on my blog was really helpful. I did a unusually good job keeping things on time, which allowed me to make my dads business cards without rushing through the whole thing. If I were to do this again, I would try to call the people that communication was bad with to clear things out. Over all, I learned a lot about using programs to make cards and designs (pages and Photoshop Elements 8...Confusing!), and communicating with customers to fit there needs. This class and specifically this project has ensured me that I want to pursue a career in graphic design.

Final: Take Two

Because of my first final with Squaw Mountain kind of ending as a flop, I made business cards for my dad's company. We had a conversation about what he wanted on his card, I made him one, and he gave me a little feed back. I changed up the position of some of the boxes and he liked it a lot. Here's a picture of part of our conversation and the final product!

Final Project..Sort of a flop?

So, after lack of reply, and some communication problems...I don't think my client is gonna be as compatible (if that's the right word?) for my project as I thought. It turns out without telling me, they hired an actual graphic designer (knowing that would have been a help). I FINALLY got a reply though which is good, and I think they will be using my design for something with the mountain, maybe? Not very clear. I'll attach the conversations to this thread, and hopefully this will work out.

Getting information for Final Project

For this project, I knew that some people had been offended by the name of the mountain, so I double checked to make sure what name they were using. They're using the same as before, which will make things easier!






I'm now waiting for a reply on the information needed to start the project. I'm pretty excited to be able to start designing it! I'm glad I'm doing a project that I care so much about.
